Changes to Appointment Booking from 1st October 2025

Starting 1st October 2025, our practice will be adopting a new NHS Modern General Practice model known as the Triage, aligned with the national NHS contract changes and mandates.

What’s Changing?

All non-urgent appointment requests, medication queries, and administrative questions must be submitted through an online consultation (triage) form. This form is available on our website homepage (you can use this link to go directly to the online form). If you cannot access it online, you may call the practice or visit reception for assistance in completing the form.

Urgent, same-day GP appointments will continue to be booked by telephone in the usual way.

Your online consultation request will be reviewed promptly by a health navigator or GP, who will decide on the next steps.

Depending on your medical needs, you may receive a face-to-face or telephone appointment with a clinician — this could be a GP, pharmacist, physiotherapist, or other suitable healthcare professional.

Some issues may be resolved directly via text or phone call without requiring a full appointment.

If no online appointments are immediately available, please try again the next day at 8am when additional slots are released.
You may be advised to access other services such as community pharmacy, NHS 111, or a walk-in centre if more appropriate.

Why the Change?

  • To provide safer and fairer access based on medical need rather than first come, first served.
  • To ensure urgent cases are prioritized and seen swiftly.
  • To reduce waiting times and the frustrating queues for telephone appointments, especially during busy times.
  • To make better use of the broader clinical team, including pharmacists, physiotherapists, nurses, and physician assistants.

This approach is supported nationally by NHS England to improve patient care and satisfaction.

Support for Patients

If you are unable or unsure about using the online consultation form, our reception team can assist you by phone or in person.

The form asks for essential information to help clinically triage your request effectively.

Walk-in requests for routine appointments will not speed up access, the same online triage process will be followed.

Urgent health needs outside practice hours should be directed to NHS 111 or emergency services 999.

Data Security

The system uses approved NHS platforms that comply with strict confidentiality and data protection standards.

We appreciate this change may feel different, but it aims to deliver better, safer care for all patients. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this transition.
